We are writing this newsletter with exceedingly grateful hearts for all of you who prayerfully and financially partner with True North 406 Ministries! Your faithful and generous support has allowed us to continue to meet with pastors, missionaries, ministry leaders, couples and individuals who want support for personal healing and to be empowered to walk in wholeness for their generation.

“The true self isn’t found when we are looking for it, it’s found when we are looking for Him” ~ C.S. Lewis

This time last year, we shifted our focus to prioritize working with pastors, as well as ministry and missionary leaders to foster healing culture. This included hours of discussion along with piloting programs and trainings. Today, we are witnessing powerful signs that God is at work. Continue reading as we share a few examples of how we are partnering with leaders who are on a journey to invite healing into their everyday lives.

Redeeming Sexuality Workshop - Discipleship Training School Leaders (DTS) – Equip, Youth with A Mission – Lakeside, Montana

A candid photo of Elizabeth in the middle of teaching, with her arm in the air gesturing to a white board with a diagram about healing.

In September, we had the opportunity to teach a workshop titled Redeeming Sexuality to a group of DTS leaders from all over the globe. (pictured) We wove our story of redemption throughout the teaching as a true-life example of how concealing addiction, trauma, and pain will inevitably create a crisis for recovery, and yet it doesn’t have to be that way, rather it can be a part of everyday life. Healing is the Center piece of the gospel, and found in all Jesus did on the Cross. It’s like a pathway leading us to the resurrection power of the cross. Moreover, it becomes who we are and something we live out, not just something we do.

We are so encouraged as we witness a growing community of humble and courageous leaders starting their personal journey’s. Some will join us for our next Living Waters session starting in January 2025. Many are open and curious about how this new journey will look, and we are here to provide resources and support.

Leaders Collective Training with Dr. Jim Wilder:

We mentioned this new training in our last newsletter. We’re discovering incredible things about the brain, particularly how neuroplasticity enables the brain to grow and change continuously. One of the key components of good mental health is incorporating quiet into our daily lives. Another essential element our brain thrives on is joy. Cultivating joy helps us learn, grow, and build relationships with greater ease and integrity. Brain science and theology are complimentary and provide a solid foundation of hope and encouragement for transformational healing, stronger relationships, and good communication. We just completed lesson 7 and have 17 more lessons to keep learning about “neurotheology” and how God designed our brains for joy, resilience, and relational attachment.

Pastoral Counseling

Counseling couples is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work. When people are open and approach their relationships with integrity, they grow, and can offer a much deeper, more meaningful love. To date we have provided over 2000 hours of counseling!

Youth with A Mission (YWAM) – Lakeside, Montana - Movie Night with the Halliburton’s:

Most recently, we had the opportunity to speak to over one hundred staff leaders at Youth with A Mission – Lakeside. We shared our story of hiding our personal struggles and the impact it had on us, leading to a season of withdrawal from ministry. Because of this experience, we encourage ministry leaders to reflect on how their own brokenness is impacting their lives and those they lead. As leaders who pour so much into others, it is crucial to make personal healing a part of our daily lives, as we can only lead others as far as we’ve gone ourselves. We concluded with an invitation for all to attend a special evening event where we watched a film called “The Heart of Man”. This is a cinematic retelling of the parable of the prodigal son, interwoven with testimony from Christian pastors, authors and psychologist sharing their testimonies of personal and sexual brokenness and illuminating the truth; shame is not a barrier to God’s love, but a bridge to absolute transformation, victory, freedom and hope. Click below to see a short recap of our night together.

Middle left: The Heart of Man - Friday, November 22, 6:30pm Keith Green Room - Join us for the movie and a discussion with the Halliburtons. There will be movie snacks, a door prize, and a chance to dig deeper into this important topic. RVSP to memer.development@ywammontana.org.
Middle right: A picture of the movie poster which contains a man standing on a steep cliffside above water with arms outstretched. The title "The Heart of Man" is in hold old timey lettering. The subtext reads, "Our brokenness is a bridge, not a barrier."
Bottom: The Heart of Man is a story inviting the sons and daughters of God to leave behind our broken ways of thinking and relating to God and to others. Once we begin to know who God is (and as a result who we are), we have something to invite the world into.
